Janez Sirše, MScHead of Consulting

Janez Sirše finished his Master’s studies at the Faculty of Economics, Ljubljana, in 1977 and after that took an active part in economic research and development planning. He was a first Minister of Tourism of independent Slovenia. Since 1993, he has successfully run the National Tourist Association and since 1994 the International Tourism Institute, where he now works as a head of consulting services. Moreover, he has been teaching tourism-related subjects as a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana and the Faculty for Commercial and Business Sciences in Celje. As a multidisciplinary expert, he contributed to the establishment of »Centre for Training in Tourism« and »Turistica - Faculty of Tourism Studies in Portorož«. With his extensive knowledge of tourism, he contributed to the development of several national strategic documents , marketing and development plans and innovative international tourism projects. He disseminates his knowledge successfully abroad, to the EU and the rising markets of South-eastern Europe. From 2010, he works for the Serbian government as a team leader in a project of implementation of their national tourism strategy.
